Mountain Veteran Ministries

Start Here

You don’t have to have it all figured out. Whether you’re a skeptic, a seeker, a lifelong believer, or a veteran carrying weight you can’t quite name — there’s a place for you here.

Who We Are

Mountain Veteran Ministries is a gospel-centered ministry serving veterans, service members, and their families in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. We believe the Christian faith is true — and that it’s worth wrestling with, not just accepting without question.

We produce biblical teaching through podcasts, blog posts, and study resources designed for people who’ve seen enough of the world to ask hard questions and want honest answers.

“The same God who holds the stars in place knows your name, your record, and your need — and He came anyway.”

— Elder Don Bland, Wy’East Community Church / MVM

Faith and Service

God, war, suffering, and purpose — these aren’t easy topics. We don’t shy away from them. Read what Scripture actually says to those who’ve borne the weight of service.

A Simple Pathway

1

Read one post from the Foundations series

These short, direct articles lay the groundwork. Start with “What Is the Gospel?” — it takes about ten minutes and answers the most important question.

2

Listen to a podcast episode

Pick any episode from the MVM Podcast on a topic that catches your attention. No theology degree required — just an open mind.

3

Spend a week in one of our Bible studies

Our free study guides are designed for individuals or small groups. Each one walks you through a passage of Scripture with real application.

4

Connect with a local church

MVM is a teaching ministry, not a substitute for the local church. We want to point you toward a congregation where you can worship, belong, and grow. We can help you look.

If You’re Skeptical

Good. The Christian faith doesn’t ask you to park your brain at the door. Honest doubt is different from stubborn unbelief — and God has handled both. We have resources specifically for people who are asking hard questions about God, suffering, the reliability of Scripture, and whether any of this could possibly be true.

Start with our Apologetics series — we take the questions seriously because we think the answers matter.

Come as You Are

You don’t have to be cleaned up, certain, or faithful to start reading. Romans 5:8 says Christ died for us while we were still sinners. That’s the whole point. Come as you are — He already knows.

Key Takeaways

  1. You belong here, whatever your starting point. MVM is built for veterans, skeptics, seekers, and believers — no prior faith required to engage.
  2. Start simple, go as deep as you want. Our Foundations posts are the front door; our theology content is the library in the back.
  3. The podcast is the fastest way in. Audio teaching designed for real life — pick a topic and start listening.
  4. We’re not the destination. MVM is a resource ministry. Our goal is to point you toward Christ and toward a local church where community happens.
  5. Hard questions are welcome. If you’re skeptical, start with the Apologetics series. We’d rather engage your doubts than pretend they don’t exist.

7-Day Reading Plan: Finding Your Footing

  1. Day 1 — John 1:1–18
The prologue of John. Who is Jesus, really? What does it mean that “the Word became flesh”? What does that claim require of you?
  2. Day 2 — Romans 3:21–26
The heart of the gospel in six verses. What does “justified by faith” actually mean, and why does it matter?
  3. Day 3 — Psalm 22
A soldier’s psalm — raw, honest, and ultimately hopeful. Where have you felt abandoned? What does God’s silence feel like to you?
  4. Day 4 — Isaiah 53:1–12
Written 700 years before Christ — and a portrait of Him. How does the image of the suffering servant challenge your picture of God?
  5. Day 5 — Luke 15:11–32
The parable of the prodigal son. Which son are you? What does the father’s response tell you about God?
  6. Day 6 — 1 Corinthians 15:12–22
If the resurrection isn’t true, nothing else matters. Why does Paul say faith is “futile” without it? What would you need to believe the resurrection happened?
  7. Day 7 — Revelation 21:1–7
The end of the story. What does “He will wipe every tear from their eyes” mean to someone who has carried what you’ve carried?
