About Us
Meet Don Bland – Elder, Editor and Technical Chief
I’m Don Bland, a gray-haired Vietnam vet who traded rucksacks for circuit boards and spent forty years riding the waves of tech— from humming mainframes to today’s cloud-first world. Through every product launch and software overhaul, one thing held steady: the Gospel that carried me from the rice paddies of Southeast Asia to the fast lanes of Silicon Valley. It has taken many years for me to understand how the gospels actually guided me without me even knowing.
Now that I’ve hung up the corporate badge, I’m not about to sit on the porch and watch the sun set. God’s given me a new assignment: harness every digital tool within reach to tell folks, “Jesus still saves, and He’s only a click away.”
Why Mountain Veteran Ministries?
Our little Wy’East Community Church stands beneath snow-capped peaks in Odell & Pine Grove, Oregon. On Sundays you’ll find us worshiping in boots and denim while Pastor Doug Massingill—a military retiree—preaches Christ with a fire that could thaw the mountain air. But the Good News was never meant to stay penned in by four walls or county lines. So we’re flinging open the digital doors:
- Livestream Worship – Sundays at 10 a.m. (Pacific) on YouTube & Facebook under Wy’East Community Church.
- Interactive Bible Studies – Real-time video gatherings where questions are as welcome as testimonies.
- Podcasts & Short-Form Teachings – Commute-length conversations on living out the faith in a troubled world.
- Social-Media Devotionals – Bite-sized Scripture reflections to brighten a feed or spark a late-night scroll.
What Drives Us
I’ve seen how fragile life can be, and I refuse to waste a moment. Technology may change by the hour, yet people still hunger for truth, hope, and genuine connection. My goal is to pair yesterday’s front-porch hospitality with today’s broadband reach—bringing the Bible to busy travelers in an airport lounge, to ranchers checking cattle before dawn, and to anyone who’s ever wondered if God notices them.
Come Along for the Journey
Mountain Veteran Ministries is a work in progress—so pull up a chair and grow with us. Whether you’re a seasoned saint, a curious skeptic, or a tech-savvy believer with ideas to share, there’s room at the table. Let’s livestream, podcast, post, pray, and code together until every corner of the digital frontier echoes with the name of Jesus.
“The harvest is plentiful, the laborers are few… and the Wi-Fi signal is strong. Let’s get to work.”
